Re-thought

Twice today my home has been empty of children. It's been quiet, relatively neat, and laundry has been done... But while the quiet is nice, and the opportunity to do whatever I want is liberating, it has gotten me thinking.

About how in 2 years, Sophie will be in kindergarten and in 3 years, she's gone all day.

And even though I joke and say that I can't wait, and that my house will get and stay clean for more than 20 minutes at a time - what will I be doing that will be so great? So worthwhile?

I do know that the baby/kids-at-home-all-day stages end for everyone. And I know that at that point we all have to somewhat reinvent ourselves.

But walking home today with no kids in tow and no kids waiting at home I had the thought -

"Maybe I'm not in as big a hurry for Sophie to grow up as I thought..."

I am so right there. The twins are in Kindergarten this year, and it is all freaking day here. I looked forward to this day for 5 years, and yes it is fabulous, but I miss their little guts! I am fortunate enough to have my business doing nails (and a fellow nail tech recently moved and referred me a lot of clients) at our house, so I have been keeping busy. It is a change, though. I'm not quite sure who I am anymore...I have defined myself as a stay at home mom for the past 7 years, and now I am not. It is surreal to say the least. Enjoy your time with Sophie, it truly will be over befoer you know it.

I've been having similar thought, but I'm still looking forward to Patch heading out to school and not having to find him every two seconds because he's off AGAIN at a friends and I can't find him.
Last night I dreamed that Caely was getting married. Now THAT I can wait for!

I hear you! The couple of days when the boys are all gone the babies asleep, I am glad I still have years left with the baby.
