Disneyland & 4 Tips for Trips

We just got back from a vacation to Disneyland, and it was such a blast! It was our Christmas gift to the kids, and with the exception of the one night and day that Sophie was sick, it was perfect! We were able to fly there - which allowed us to shorten the number of days we were actually gone - which meant we arrived too early to check into the hotel. So, we headed to the beach. I can't even tell you how amazing it felt to leave the snow and frigid temps of home and within a few hours be standing on the beach with the sun beating down! It was only in the mid-60s, but it felt sooooo good. Disneyland was 2 days of perfection. The first day in particular was great. The longest we had to wait in a line was 20 minutes. The second day, we found out later was the first day of races for the Star Wars marathon at the park. So the crowds built throughout the day, but we had managed to hit Radiator Racers 1st thing and only had to wait 20 minute...

Rewriting the Narrative

Well, so one week in, and things are going strong around here. Beds being made, scriptures being read... I'm unstoppable! I am not usually one who is great at following through on "goals". So even making it one week on some of these things is HUGE. My defined goals are not anything that is a big deal, but I know that as each little thing happens, I am rewriting my narrative just a bit. You know, the one that goes something like this, "I'm a failure. I quit everything. I never follow through. I am weak. I am lazy. And anything good that I am doesn't count because on top of all of the other stuff, I am fat." You guys. I'm 42. I don't know why I am still battling these demons. Hummingbirding - It's a Thing

There are so many people and things that inspire me. Ones that make me dream and spark in me a desire to create. I watch Fixer Upper and dream of creating beautiful spaces or owning a store. I see my son become passionate about creating beautiful images, and suddenly I want to be able to take gorgeous photographs. I read inspiring posts or engaging novels and I feel a desire to fulfil my childhood dream of being a writer. I have within me a desire to create. And for the last year those desires have intensified to a deep longing. The problem is, I just don't know what my "thing" is. And that "not knowing" was paralyzing my ability to do anything . I was feeling quite frantic about it until I had a conversation with my sweet sister. Her inspired advice was to just play. The moment the words were out of her mouth, I felt relief. Then there was a talk by Elizabeth Gilbert that said basically the same thing. ...
